So imagine a very attractive seating area on your porch that is softly lit by lamps that show off your potted plants. Or think about greenery or flowers in pots that line your porch steps and are illuminated in the evening. How inviting would that be? A plant lamp can add the perfect sparkle to your porch in the evening and create a welcoming tone.
1. What is your budget? Porches are not cheap. Just the simple act of building one can be expensive, so take a look at what you can afford. Learn what building materials cost in your area. Price the various fixtures you are thinking of using. Chances are there are places that will sell you the same fixtures for half the price of that \"brand name\" home improvement store across the street from the mall.
The most common outdoor porch ideas - especially front porch ideas - center on furniture and decor. Homeowners are thinking twice about just plopping down an old chair or sofa with a rickety table. Their horizon of porch ideas reaches far into the realms of stores and design houses, filled with specialty fabrics, eclectic or retro furniture styles, and unique decorative accents. People are even putting up curtains (and who ever saw that coming?).
Do not forget your front porch! Your porch has existing space and with the right front porch ideas you can transform it easily into an outdoor living area.
Another idea would be to paint your pots in complementary colors, like forest green, emerald green and celery green. And yet another idea is to paint a pretty stencil on your pots after you spray paint them in your chosen color. A little imagination and work can go a long way. When you tire of black pots, you could re-paint the pots a pretty golden color for the fall.
If you grow your flowers and vegetables in containers, consider spray painting your plastic pots to pull together the look you desire for your container garden. It's easy, inexpensive and you can change the color whenever you want. It's just another plus to container gardening. Why not try it this season?
