Another idea would be to paint your pots in complementary colors, like forest green, emerald green and celery green. And yet another idea is to paint a pretty stencil on your pots after you spray paint them in your chosen color. A little imagination and work can go a long way. When you tire of black pots, you could re-paint the pots a pretty golden color for the fall.
Comfort. We all like to be comfortable when we are outside. Choosing comfortable outdoor furniture should be a priority. Study tables and trays will be appreciated by your family and guests. Adjust for the sun and weather. Use porch blinds, shades, or outdoor curtains to block the wind and sun. Do not be chased back inside due to poor weather or a blazing sun.
Consider how you will use your porch. Will it be used mainly for relaxing or entertaining. Your answer will determine what kind of outdoor furniture you will need and where it will be placed. It will also determine what amenities you may want. If entertaining, you may need extra storage space for dining utensils, cups, and other items you will want to keep handy. You may also need additional lighting like outdoor table lamps or even exterior chandeliers.
3. Plan your space. You might feel a little silly crawling around on your porch (or the area of your yard that you expect to be covered by one soon) with a tape measure and tape, but in the long run you will be glad you took the time to make measurements. You should also measure any furniture or fixtures you are thinking about purchasing before you actually buy them. After all, there is little that is more discouraging than spending a bunch of money on a piece that ends up not fitting because you didn't think to measure ahead of time.
Of course, before you get your heart set on any one of the ideas you have put together for your new (or remodeled) porch, there are some things you will want to consider.
My third front porch idea is all about entertaining on your porch. How about turning a nice wooden picnic table into a drink and appetizer buffet for your next porch party? I saw this idea in the book titled Perfect Porches.
