You definitely cannot go wrong with rockers on your front porch along with your other porch furniture because they give your front porch a welcoming look and feel, but will also give your family a great place to spend time together. Porch rockers are just one of many front porch ideas to make your porch a place where you and your family want to be.
My third front porch idea is all about entertaining on your porch. How about turning a nice wooden picnic table into a drink and appetizer buffet for your next porch party? I saw this idea in the book titled Perfect Porches.
Decks are one of those under appreciated home investments that are sorely under utilized. Most standard builders just build the minimum housing requirements which will allow the homeowner to experience a minimum amount of enjoyment. The standard 6' X 4' back patio isn't large enough to do much of anything. Adding a full deck to the back of the home is like adding a whole new living space.
If you grow your flowers and vegetables in containers, consider spray painting your plastic pots to pull together the look you desire for your container garden. It's easy, inexpensive and you can change the color whenever you want. It's just another plus to container gardening. Why not try it this season?
2. Make sure that your ideas are practical. If you live in a coastal area, flimsy wicker furniture might not be the best idea for your porch. What is pretty can also be functional and durable. It just takes some hunting. You will also want to make sure that your ideas will stand up to the weather and the wear and tear of normal life. Your porch is different from your family room.
If you are building a porch onto your home or are remodeling one you currently have, you are being given a great opportunity! This is your chance to really decide what the outside of your home says about the people who live in it. Of course, before you can start decorating or building, you need to get some good ideas.
