If your front porch or outdoor area is large enough to accommodate a small picnic table, you can toss a pretty checkered table cloth on it (or not!). Then spread out your selection of wine bottles, sparkling juices, crystal wine glasses, pretty baskets filled with fruit, cheeses and crackers. Fill vases to the brim with fresh flowers from your garden. And another nice touch is to put soft pillows on the picnic table benches.
Porch rocking chairs will not only add comfort to your front porch, but they also give a \"come and stay a while\" feel for anyone that comes over. Rocking chairs have been around for years on front porches because they make the perfect place for sitting and enjoying conversation.
We talked with an expert on front porch designs and she offered the following advice for planning your porch living space.
Use furniture placement to create a special privacy area for reading or dining. An outdoor rug can be used to define a space also, whether it be a conversation area or bistro table and chairs for two.
So imagine a very attractive seating area on your porch that is softly lit by lamps that show off your potted plants. Or think about greenery or flowers in pots that line your porch steps and are illuminated in the evening. How inviting would that be? A plant lamp can add the perfect sparkle to your porch in the evening and create a welcoming tone.
Small Porch. This porch basically is self explanatory. It is small, but that does not necessarily mean it should go without being noticed. There are many amazing ways to make your small porch cozy and stand out from the crowd. Carefully choose the items you would like to use on your porch. Maybe you just have room for one or two simple chairs. Use the space you do have and do not worry about the space you do not have. Add flower planters to the porch rails to create a lovely small porch. Use empty corner space for corner planters and tables. This will free up the much needed floor space.
